| 402nd Transportation Company (Terminal Transfer) The 402nd Transportation Company (Terminal Transfer Service), known as "The Duce", joined the 4th Transportation Command from Fort Campbell Kentucky during October 1966. It was initially assigned to the 11th Transportation Battalion and was billeted at Long Binh Post in an area called TC Hill. Initially, the 402nd was assigned to work the Thanh Tuy Ha and Binh Trieu discharge sites. In July 1967, the 124th Transportation Company (Terminal Service) assumes responsibility for the Thanh Tuy Ha discharge site from the 402nd Transportation Company. In September 1967 the 402nd assumes control and operation of the Ho Nai Railhead. In February 1968, the 402nd turned over responsibility of the Binh Trieu discharge site to the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. In April 1968, the 402nd completes movement from TC Hill to Camp Camelot, Long Binh Post. In May 1968, the 402nd opens a new general cargo discharge site at Dong Nai. In June of 1968, the 402nd is reassigned from the 11th Transportation Battalion to the 71st Transportation Battalion. Concurrently, operational control of the Buu Long, Cogido, Dong Nai Barge Discharge Sites and Ho Nai Railhead transferred from the 11th Transportation to the 71st Transportation Battalion. Later the 402nd was reassigned backto the 11th Transportation Battalion, and then to the 159th Transportation Battalion, but never leaving Camp Camelot on Long Binh Post. |
