| I served in Vietnam from Feb 9, 1967 to Feb 9, 1968 and was based at Camp Camelot, Long Binh, serving at Newport Terminal on the night shift my entire tour. My occupation was Transportation Movement Specialist attached to the 71st Transportation Battalion, HHD Det 1. My duties included documenting inbound/outbound tonnage reports of vessels at Newport and then making nightly delivery of such reports to the 4th Transp. Command, Saigon. My highlights include Tet Offensive "68" at Newport, Bob Hope show at Long Binh, R&R - Taipei, Taiwan, and the cities of Saigon and Bien Hoa. After Vietnam, I spent eighteen months in West Germany assigned to the Hdqt. Det., Nahbollenbach Army Depot, Ider-Oberstein, West Germany, with further assignment in Hanau, West Germany. I was discharged from the Army on August 28, 1969 with the rank of Specialist 5th Cl., Transportation Control Movement Specialist. Tom, thanks for sending in the photos. |

| Update Photos Taken at Fort Eustis, VA Although Tom and I never knew each other back then and we were in the same unit, thanks to this website we were able to get together and meet in VA for the first time. Below are a few photos of us at the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis, VA on May 8, 2002. We had a great couple of days together going over old times and sightseeing in the area. |
