Photos From Bernie Rodgers
I arrived in Vietnam in February 1968. I spent four months at the Blackhorse base camp in Xuan Loc with the 551st Light Maintenance Company attached to the 11th Cav. as a mechanic. In June of 1968, I was reassigned
to the 567th Transportation Company where I originally ran the tool room and repaired fork lifts at the Maintenance building at Newport Terminal. Later, I drove trucks and transported equipment on a low-boy trailer to
the boneyard. By the time I arrived at Camp Camelot, there weren't any of the original tents left in our company area. We also made the trip every day to Newport on that Maintenance bus which we just received in
September 1968.

Left Photo - Our Home At Camp Camelot - Right Photo - Here's me and the bus we rode in everyday to Newport. Notice the sign on the bus I made. We were quite proud of that bus. It sure beat riding in the back of a deuce and a half every morning. It meant extra sleep on the ride down.

Left Two Photo - That's me on the left and a buddy from home who came to visit on one of the few days we had off. I believe the guy on the left was Roman Palowski. He was known around the camp as "The Pollock". He and I transferred together from the 551st. I sure would like to run into him someday. I don't remember the man on the right except he was our SGT.
