My name is Mark Moehle. I was the company clerk at the formation of the 551st Transportation Cmpany at Ft. Eustis, VA. I continued as clerk when the 551st was deployed to Cam Rahn Bay during September 1966.
In March of 1967 the company moved to Long Binh Post and was assigned to the 71st Transportation Battalion. I spent some time at the docks at Newport and then was on the metal hut building crew. I got to sleep
in a new metal hut only one night before heading to the world. I really enjoyed seeing all the familiar names, faces and places in the photos on this website. I did, however, miss seeing any photos of our fabulous
home-built shower facility in Cam Rahn Bay.

Me sitting on my bunk in Cam Rahn Bay. Notice the 20-inch window fan I carried from Virginia. Those who thought I was crazy later joined me many times to enjoy the breeze. Our home away from home in Cam Rahn Bay shortly before the company moved to Long Binh Post.
