| The 368th Transportation Company (Terminal Service), known as the Deck Devils, was constituted and activated at Seattle, Washington on 8 May 1944 as the 368th Harborcraft Company and saw action subsequently in New Guinea, Leyte and Luzon. In May 1966, it was reactivated and redesignated the 368th Transportation Company (Terminal Service), and deployed to Long Binh Post, Republic of Vietnam, in October 1966. An additional mission assigned to the Deck Devils is the operation of the Army Air Cargo Terminal at Tan Son Nhut Air Base. It has consistently discharged and/or backloaded in excess of 30,000 short tons of cargo monthly. The Deck Devils established the 4th Transportation Command record by discharging 6,006 short tons of cargo in a 24-hour period during the period 8-9 December 1969 and further set a record for a 24-hour period for discharging 789 short tons of refrigerated cargo during the period 23-24 November 1969. |
